Frost Brown Todd (FBT) has added respected commercial litigator Michael Richter as Partner in the firm’s Business & Commercial Litigation practice.

“Michael’s impressive track record litigating highly complex commercial claims, coupled with his unique national security background, will be immensely valuable to our clients,” said Peter Cummins, Chair of FBT’s Business & Commercial Litigation practice group. “We’re excited to welcome him to the team at a time when businesses around the country and across industries are navigating a period of unprecedented regulatory uncertainty and geopolitical risk.”

Richter is licensed in New York, and has handled an array of complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts spanning California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, and Texas. He has also practiced before the American Arbitration Association (AAA), the Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Service (JAMS), and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). He advises clients in a variety of highly regulated and innovation-focused industries, including automotive, aviation, chemicals, construction, cryptocurrency, cybersecurity, energy, financial services, government contracting, health, manufacturing, private equity, real estate, sports, and telecommunications.

Before becoming an attorney, Richter served as an intelligence officer with the Defense Intelligence Agency and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. In this role, he covered Russian foreign policy towards Asia and the Middle East, wrote for the President’s Daily Brief, and provided intelligence support to policymakers and warfighters. He was also responsible for building the Intelligence Community Joint Duty Program, which was recognized by Harvard University as one of the most innovative government programs in America. He is routinely sought after to speak and provide counsel on national security matters.

“I’m thrilled to join such a highly skilled and collaborative team during an impressive period of growth for the firm,” said Richter. “I look forward to leveraging my trial experience and Frost Brown Todd’s national platform to deliver strategic, results-driven counsel for our clients.”
